Monitoring describes the monitoring of processes. It is an umbrella term for all types of systematic recordings, measurements or observations of a process or procedure using technical aids or other observation systems. In the case of solar technology, it is possible to equip the inverter with a monitoring bridge or communication gateway .

These technologies provide transparency about performance, for example electricity yield and electricity production on the smartphone. In addition to the current performance data, of course also the daily yield, weekly yield, monthly and annual yield.

Monitoring generally takes place on the inverter or, in the case of balcony power plants, also via an energy measuring device. The manufacturers of microinverters provide communication gateways that can then be evaluated via app or online.
